Phill
Stephens
Phill
Stephens trained
as a classical singer at the Newcastle Conservatory of Music in
NSW before heading to London for further education and training.
After deciding he would rather perform than teach music,
Phill studied acting at Ensemble Studios under Hayes
Gordon and veteran tutors such as Lorrae Desmond and Lorraine
Bailey.
Phill
took the road of musical comedy starring in numerous
professional musical
comedy productions in NSW & VIC.
A regular on the Mike Walsh show, Phill also made a name
for himself as a serious singer whilst refining his real love
– comedy cabaret.
Phill
started his own cabaret venue in Sydney at Ducks Crossing
Neutral Bay where he wrote and performed numerous cabaret shows
over a three-year period - Excuse Me Girls (with
Bernadette Smith & Lesley Hancock) and A Fractured Melody
I, II & III and Forbidden Melody (with Bernadette
Smith) before taking the show on the road up the East Coast to
perform for corporate audiences.
Phill
also played host to a number of other comedy cabaret acts at his
venue with the likes of Debbie Does Ducks and Trio
Bravo. Mike
Walsh then opened a cabaret room up the road in competition and
pinched Phill from his own venue to help him set up the new one
and sing with numerous Sydney cabaret personalities - the likes
of Geraldine Turner, Helen Zerefos, Jeannie Little and Victoria
Nichols.
He
then performed in numerous cabaret shows at venues such as The
Funny Farm Comedy Festival, Palms on Oxford and The
Rose, Shamrock and Thistle Hotel.
Phill
re-joined Bernadette Smith in North Queensland to write and
perform a series of comedy cabaret shows as A Broad with the
Queen. (Bernadette
is the Broad….)They have been appearing in venues in North
Queensland to rave reviews and more
recently at Stage Door Theatre Restaurant on
